Children ask us to see and experience the world as they do. As we strive to do so, we begin to recognize each child’s unique constellation of gifts and challenges, shaped by who they are, their family, culture, and individual ways of being.
Through careful observation and simple contemplative practices, we can become more aware of our own inner experiences while deepening our ability to notice and understand the child before asking anything of them. From this attentive and empathetic place, we can create environments that offer each child the space, rhythm, and opportunities they need to unfold in their own time and grow into who they are becoming.

Children do not roll off the assembly line ready to go as a finished product. In fact, children are mightily engaged in growing their bodies and continuously refining their organ systems as they slowly awaken to the world around them. We will discuss the different ways that an inner stream of growth meets an outer stream of information, and why, for certain parts of development, sooner is not better. This helps show how Waldorf education builds a foundation for whole-person, lifelong health and balance.

Join us for a conversation focused on how educators and parents can work together to support a child’s healthy development while providing them the knowledge and tools they need to navigate the world as it is today. We will present current research as well as practical ideas for a healthy family culture, how to partner with your child’s educational environment, and how to advocate for your child – whether they attend a Waldorf school, public school, or another setting.
